Excavator Road Building Techniques

Excavator is widely used in road building. Mastering some techniques can not only improve working efficiency but also reduce damage to the machine. When digging, the angle between the boom and jib should be 90°to 110°and the angle between the bucket’s bottom and the ground should depend on the quality of the earth, 60°for soft earth and 30°for hard earth. The boom will cooperate with the bucket movement under the driving power of the cylinders on the jib. The bucket should be taken back when it is filled with three quarters by lifting the boom.

Leveling is a step that integrates with varied movements in digger road building, which includes digging, sweeping and positioning. The earth in the high place should be moved to the low place, the earth in the surface should be taken first then the subsoil followed. To dig a trench, the two sides should be excavated before the middle place. The digger should be kept stable and the crawler belt should travel straight line, which is very important for digging a straight trench. The trench should be dug gradually by making perfect and accurate work in each section, which will ensure the finished trench does not require remedial work to make it usable. 

The road should be wide and compacted as much as possible to avoid cave-in. Avoid working in rainy days, where the wet road and blurred sight will cause accident. Don’t make sharp turns at high speed, which is very dangerous. The compact excavator should be maintained regularly to avoid break down to the minimum and guarantee the work finished on schedule.
